Transforming a Landmark: Town Hall Restoration in full swing
A New Era for Kidderminster Town Hall: Major Refurbishment Underway
We’re excited to share a major milestone in the future of Kidderminster Town Hall, as highlighted recently by BBC Hereford & Worcester. A comprehensive refurbishment of the historic Grade II listed building is currently underway, thanks to £8.5 million in funding from the Government’s Levelling Up Fund.
This transformative project is set to reopen the venue in autumn 2025, with significant improvements that will secure the Town Hall’s role as a vibrant cultural and community hub for generations to come.
Key Features of the Refurbishment:
- New dressing rooms to support performances, including pantomimes and comedy events
- A fully refurbished café, with indoor and outdoor seating and flexible entertainment space
- Improved access throughout the building, including a new lift and enhanced disabled entrances
- Refurbishment of ground floor toilets and upgraded mechanical and electrical systems
- Energy-efficient upgrades to improve comfort and sustainability
- Restoration of the building’s historic organ pipes, made possible through generous support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund
Venue Manager Matt Smith commented:
“This is more than just maintenance — it’s about future-proofing the Town Hall. The improvements to accessibility, efficiency, and commercial viability will help reinvigorate not only this iconic venue but also the wider town centre. The aim is to encourage more activity, more visitors, and greater community engagement.”
We look forward to welcoming the public back through the doors in 2025, with a renewed programme of live performances, community events, and cultural celebrations.
